I’m going to say something most people don’t want to hear.
Vending is not complicated.
We make it complicated.
I see it all the time now. People obsess over the perfect machine, the perfect spreadsheet, the perfect logo, the perfect pitch. Weeks go by. Months go by. Nothing gets placed. They “secure” a location, obsess over which machine, which location in the building it should go in, what should they change and the machine isn’t never placed…
Meanwhile, someone else just puts a machine in a decent location and moves on.
This business is simple. I’m not saying it’s easy, it’s simple.
Let me explain.
The Pitch Is Simple
You don’t need a 30 minute presentation.
Pass the guard (front desk)
Find the decision maker.
Explain the value.
Don’t oversell.
That’s it.
You’re providing convenience. You’re solving a problem. Keep it straightforward. The more you talk, the harder it gets.
The Equipment Is Simple
Reliable machines.
Card readers.
Clean setup.
It doesn’t need to be flashy. It needs to work. Smart coolers or traditional the intent is the same.
I’d rather have a basic, dependable machine in a strong location than a beautiful setup in a weak one. Location does 90% of the work and your business succeeds or fails at the time you secure a location.
The System Is Simple
Know what’s selling.
Refill on schedule.
Keep it clean.
You don’t need ten dashboards. You need to know what moves and what doesn’t. Adjust. Service. Repeat.
Consistency builds routes. Service sets you apart. Overthinking kills momentum.
The Growth Model Is Simple
Good location.
Repeat.
When it gets busy, hire. I did it month 1.
Free your time.
Go get more locations.
That’s how you scale.
Not by redesigning your logo. Not by tweaking pricing every week. Not by watching another 30 videos. Yes I’m talking about you.
Place. Manage. Improve. Repeat.
Operators stay small because they complicate what should be boring and repeatable.
This business rewards simple systems done consistently.
If you’re stuck, ask yourself:
What am I overthinking right now?
Then simplify it.
That’s usually the move, that’s what I do every week and how I continue to grow my business.
If this hit home, shoot me a reply.
If you’re stuck on something, overthinking a move, or just want a second set of eyes on your setup. I’m always open to the conversation.
